| Well, the beginning of June sees a particularly good ebay purchase by
Dad - a proper braked trailer on which to put the boat:
I'll need to do a bit of work on
support heights & maybe extend
the base with some extra box section, but many thanks to Simon (an avid
boater himself from whom I purchased said trailer) for filling me in on
the vagaries & legalities of
trailer use & set up. On his
recommendation, I'll probably go for a series of larger nylon rollers
for the final set up - such as he has on his new £1800 trailer -
For now though, a length of scaffold tube (34dia x 4wall) will get me
up & running for the test.
It took 2 hours to hoist the boat back
into the rafters & place the
trailer ready for measurement: It's a very tight fit though, so the
trailer wheels will have to come off during the majority of the build,
to be replaced by smaller castors similar to those I had on the wooden
cradle. As well as lowering the overall working height, this will allow
more and easier side-to-side movement.

I decided to go for some new rollers for the trailer, so that put the project back a bit (more), until I realised that, with a holiday in the way, a launch before the end of June was no longer a possibility. Having got everyhthing ready for launch, I had a few hours spare, so put these to good use cutting the sawn stock down to size for bulkhead & floor timebers, and a few of the rear decking strips
