All of the holes cut in the bulkheads for weight saving, and all sheer strake cut-outs already done
First full layup of a filleted seam, the overall process being:
1 coat all surfaces with LV epoxy with slow hardener
2 mix up & apply filleting material to ALL seams in the compartment using home created sanding dust, collected with the Dyson dust extractor setup.
I found there was no need to get too lovey about cleaning up at this stage, as the epoxy stays open long enough to tidy up after completeing the layup
3 Using 4- and 6- inch 300gram tape, do each seam as a wet layup in the glassing tray, again using the LV/slow combination - it wets out much more easily
4 Use a new (soft) gloss foam roller from Screwfix to eliminate air bubbles & smooth out the surfaces
5 Clean up & go for a beer
The first compartment took about 2 hours including cutting the glass tapes to length.
Below, I made the mistake of leaving the roller in the boat in me eagerness to get to the pub
and consequently had a little extra sanding to do later on...
